"Reseller Webhosting Guide"
A reseller host is a company that buys webspace from an actual hosting company and then resells it under its own brand. Unlike a real web hosting providers, a reseller host does not own the server or manage the network and the actual technical issues. Most technical problems are forwarded to the real host.
Reseller Web Hosting vs. Real Web Hosting
A reseller is basically a merchant who sells the services offered by the real web hosting provider. In some cases, resellers offer additional services as well, such as web design. However, in most cases it is hard to tell the difference between resellers and actual providers. They all sell a wide range of hosting packages under a certain brand.
Generally, it doesn't even matter if you are hosting with a reseller or a real web host, as long as you're getting the services you need. For small business owners, hosting with a reseller brings along a lot of advantages. Resellers offer the same hosting packages at lower prices. Moreover, they sometimes include extra-services as well. Having fewer customers, they may be able to provide better assistance to each.
However, if you have higher needs, such as a large business and high website traffic, or you've decided on a dedicated or co-location hosting plan, it is better to host with a real web hosting provider. This way you can have your high requirements addressed directly to the web hosting provider and not through intermediaries who may not communicate them properly.
Among our recommend webhosting providers, only Hostgator offers reseller plans that you can consider. I have been a resller of theirs since 2007.
