Powweb is hosting approximately 126k websites, it was on a decline until quite recently. We are not recommending it if you are new to webhosting.

Company Background
Founded in 1999, PowWeb has grown to become one of the top web hosting companies in California. With a customer base of approximately 95,000, we have personally feel that the 30 plus support staff at its Los Angeles network operations center as well as technical support staff in Los Angeles, Texas, Minnesota and Washington State might have a hard time coping with the demands. It took us more than 2 days to activate our account, that is after we wrote in asking but the account was activated on the spot.

We like their 1Plan & 1Price policy as it is less confusing. Unlike the other web host we use, PowWeb uses OPS, their own custom Web hosting software for us to manage our hosting account.

Take note too that the bandwidth is subjected to a cap of 26Gb a day which adds up to 800GB a month. Unless you are expecting tens of thousands of visitors a day, you would not be affected by this rule. Should the unlikely event happen, you will be charged $2 for exceeding the limit by 1GB, $5 for 5Gb and $20 for 10Gb.

We are giving it a 4 stars rating because they excel in 3 areas, namely Value for Money, Company Stability, Server Stability and Fast Connectivity. We cannot fault their customer service but we just cannot give it a star rating.

Reliable Uptime & Fast Connectivity

Unlike Bluehost and Hostgator, PowWeb provides you with OPS as a form of control panel to manage the websites you host with them. It is customized panel with tabs for you to click on. Check out OPS for a better idea of what we are talking about.

Our Verdict
PowWeb's offering is very generous. But the main reason why we like them is because of their robust uptime and fast connectivity! Highly recommended only if you have just one site to host.

Dislikes
To host additional websites, you need to pay an additional yearly fee of $27.77 for a Map to Subdirectory Bundle so that you can host unlimited domains on your account. However, if you total up the overall cost for 12 months inclusive of this yearly fee which is $97, the amount worked out to be just around $8 per month!

We love PowWeb's Robust uptime and fast connectivity. We also like the fact that it has been in business for the past 7 years. The other thing we really like is the weekly summary of our website's traffic statistic telling you how many visitors have been to your website, which search engines they found your website and the words they used to find your website on the search engines.
